If you have ever looked at a salon price list and wondered what a cut and finish actually is, you are not alone. It is one of those terms we use every day, but that nobody really explains. Here is exactly what it means at our Uckfield salon, what is included, how long it takes and what it costs, so you know precisely what you are booking.

What a cut and finish actually means

A cut and finish is a haircut followed by a professional blow dry to finish and style it. The finish is the part that sends you out of the salon looking polished, rather than damp and unstyled. So when you book a cut and finish, you are booking the full experience, not just the scissors.

What is included

  • A consultation to understand the shape and length you want
  • A relaxing shampoo, conditioning treatment and a head massage
  • A precision cut tailored to your hair and your face shape
  • A professional blow dry to finish and style your hair
  • Simple advice on keeping the look at home

How long does it take, and what does it cost?

A cut and finish with us is usually around an hour, and starts from £55. The exact price depends on the length and thickness of your hair and the stylist you book with, and we will always confirm it before we begin. You can see our current starting prices on our price list.

Cut and finish, dry cut or restyle?

A dry cut is a trim without a wash or blow dry, quick and handy for a small tidy-up. A restyle is a bigger change of length or shape, which needs more time at the chair. A cut and finish sits in the middle, and is what most people mean by a haircut: washed, cut and styled, ready to go. If you are after a dramatic change, mention it when you book so we can allow the time.

How often should you have one?

For most people, every six to eight weeks keeps a shape looking its best, though longer styles can often stretch a little further. If you are growing your hair out, regular tidy-ups actually help it look healthier along the way.
