Hair extensions in Uckfield: types and costs explained
Thinking about hair extensions? Here are the main types, tape, weft and micro-ring, what they cost, and how to choose the right one, from our Uckfield extension specialists.

Hair extensions can be genuinely transformative, adding length, volume and confidence in a single appointment. But the choice can feel confusing: tape, weft, micro-ring, bonded, all at very different prices. Here is a straightforward guide to the main types of hair extensions, what they tend to cost, and how we help you choose the right one at our Uckfield salon.
The main types of hair extensions
There is no single best method, only the best method for your hair, your lifestyle and your goal. These are the ones we work with most, and how they differ.
Tape-in extensions are thin wefts sandwiched either side of your own hair with a gentle medical-grade tape. They lie flat, feel lightweight and are quick to fit, which makes them a brilliant all-rounder, especially for fine or shorter hair that needs discreet volume. They are usually moved up every 6 to 8 weeks as your hair grows.
Weft extensions are a length of hair that is sewn or tied onto a small braid or row. Hand-tied wefts sit very flat and comfortably, carry plenty of length and density, and tend to suit thicker hair. They often last a little longer between maintenance visits than tapes.
Micro-ring and nano-ring extensions attach small sections of hair with a tiny bead, with no heat or glue. They can be a good option for the right hair type, and we will tell you honestly at your consultation if they suit you better than tapes or wefts.

How much do hair extensions cost?
Because extensions are completely bespoke, prices start from around £450 and vary with the method, the number of pieces you need, and the length and quality of hair you choose. There is also ongoing maintenance to factor in, tapes are usually reset every 6 to 8 weeks. Rather than guess, we give you an exact written quote at your free consultation, covering every visit, so there are no surprises.
Which type is right for you?
- Fine or shorter hair wanting subtle volume: tape-in extensions are usually the gentlest, most natural choice
- Thicker or longer hair wanting real length and density: hand-tied or sewn wefts often work beautifully
- Nervous about damage: any method, fitted and maintained properly, protects the hair underneath
- Not sure: that is exactly what the consultation is for, no commitment needed
Protecting your natural hair
Fitted and cared for properly, extensions do not damage your hair, in fact they can protect fragile ends while they grow. The two things that matter most are correct tension at fitting and sticking to your maintenance schedule. We teach you a simple at-home routine and are always at the end of the phone. Our guide to an extension aftercare routine walks through it step by step.
